Seriously, what? Okay, like if the artist has an issue with it, whatever. So by this logic no one should write fanfic ever. Or make fanart. Ever. Because who the fuck has permission to do any of that?

And what about people making fanarts and using someone else’s art (the movies and the comic books) to promote their own drawings? I don’t think either of these things are denigrating the original. Just make it richer.

This is bullshit. How many times does a Cherik art piece show up with accompanying fic not by the art? Almost regularly. And then there’s the fanart you see inspired by someone’s fic. This kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME. You’re fine, bb.

My thoughts exactly on all accounts. Especially: “I don’t think either of these things are denigrating the original. Just make it richer.”

I in no way intended to ‘promote’ my writing or any harmful intent towards the artist. I saw the image and was like ‘goddamn this is art fucking beautiful I wonder what happened to David D:’ and when that came to mind I started writing. If people like my writing and then like/rebog, then they like it. If they don’t, well they don’t. It’s no skin off my bones either way, it doesn’t hurt my feelings.

You’d be surprised how many fan-artist on tumblr there are that throw such a hissy fit over someone writing fic to post along with their art :/

  2. shayz-girl said: You also did include in your post that if the artist didn’t like it to let you know. I don’t really ever see that with others. Usually there will be comments asking for fic and then someone writing fic, but no one thinks of the artist.
