This is rude. This puts the artist/author in the position of having to constantly look around the net to see where their work has gone, and makes them ‘the bad guy’ having to ask (or contact site support) for their work to be taken down. 

It only takes a second to write and send an ask, particularly with someone who has created work (writing or drawing or iconing, etc.) that you admire. You might make a cool friend and it might lead to further collaboration. They might say no, but then you won’t have the embarrassment of having your post taken down after the fact. 

But word of advice, using work without asking beforehand certainly won’t endear you to the creator.

So I went to your blog to see who you were and saw this passive aggressive post at the top. Seeing as this is obviously directed at me, I feel compelled to reply and be even more clear then I was earlier.

You probably shouldn’t speak for that fanartist. Do you even know them personally? If not then you don’t have any right to do so. I find this to be more hurtful then anything. You have no idea if that artist even cares about the fic I wrote, furthermore and most importantly: It’s not your art, so don’t speak for them, let alone all fanartist with your post.

I would not be upset at all if the artist wanted the fic taken down, and why should I be embarrassed? If they don’t like it, it’s understandable if they don’t want what they perceive as bad writing attached to their art and I would take it down. While I’m happy if they and people like my writing, it isn’t world ending if the artist doesn’t like the fic. I write to make myself happy, not others.

It seems like in this matter you are the only one that isn’t ‘endeared’ to me and since you’re not the original artist, I could really care less.

This will be the last time I speak about this matter to anyone that is not the original artist.

TL;DR: Don’t go trying to speak and/or white knight fanart unless you know the creator of the original art personally, it makes you look really, REALLY bad and it’s more embarrassing for you then it is for me.
